WNBA Reacts to Indiana Fever Player’s ‘Unhinged’ Comments on Thursday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Sydney Colson will be looking to help lead the Indiana Fever to a win on Thursday night when they battle the Phoenix Mercury in a road game at PHX Arena. The Fever are hoping to get back to winning ways after the Los Angeles Sparks put an end to their five-game winning streak on Tuesday by handing them a 100-91 loss.
Colson celebrated her birthday on Wednesday, and her teammates surprised her with a performance during practice. The team hired a professional singer to perform for Colson, which included a rendition of Journey’s massive hit, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” as the entire squad sang along.
Colson, who just turned 36, came to Thursday’s game in style wearing an attention-grabbing orange three-piece suit. The cameras caught the 5-foot-8 guard’s arrival, and Colson had a bit to say about her fit.
“You know type (expletive),” she said. “Birthday was yesterday. Grown woman (expletive).”

After striking a couple of poses for the camera, Colson was asked to share her favorite all-time quote. The veteran dropped a gem that perfectly describes the person that she is.
“Don’t start nothing won’t be nothing,” Colson said, as she trailed off laughing.
The WNBA just had to react to the exchange as the league shared the video via social media.
“If there’s one thing Syd is always gonna give… it’s UNHINGED 😭” the league posted on X.
Colsen is currently in her first year with the Fever after joining the team as a free agent in the winter. In 29 games played thus far, the two-time WNBA champion guard has produced averages of 2.4 points and 2.1 assists in 13.9 minutes per contest.
She may not be a superstar, but she brings so much to the table for the Fever, both with her unique and fun-loving personality, as well as the wealth of experience and knowledge she has under her belt.
