The Atlanta Dream lost 81-76 to the Indiana Fever at home in their final preseason game on Saturday. After defeating the Washington Mystics on Wednesday and having a strong offensive showing, the Dream were not able to carry that into their next game. They shot 34 percent from the field and 30 percent from three, but they were still able to keep the game close because of their defense.
One player that stood out for the Dream was rookie Te-Hina Paopao, who finished the game with a team-high 14 points. Paopao had a few moments throughout the game that left the crowd amazed, including some that included last season’s Rookie of the Year, Caitlin Clark.

During one part of the game, Clark was matched up with Paopao, and the Dream rookie blew past her for the layup and the foul.
Later on in the game, Clark knocked down a step-back 3-pointer over Paopao, and the crowd went wild. Paopao didn’t let her live in that moment, and two possessions later, she knocked down a step-back 3-pointer over Clark.

After the game, Paopao was asked about hitting the shot over Clark, and she was honest about trying to get her back.
“I was kind of mad that she scored that 3 on me. I had to get that lick back, and that’s what I did,” Paopao said.
Paopao has shown throughout training camp and preseason that she will be a valuable piece for the Dream this year, and it will be exciting to keep up with her journey.
