In a closely contested game, the No. 1-seed New York Liberty emerged victorious over the No. 2-seed Minnesota Lynx, winning 80-77 on the road to take a 2-1 series lead in the 2024 WNBA Finals.

Sabrina Ionescu sealed the win with a clutch 3-pointer over Kayla McBride in a career-defining moment.

Ionescu’s performance drew comparisons to two iconic Michaels – Jordan and Myers – showcasing a mix of skill and intensity.

During a post-game interview, Ionescu explained her decision to take a logo 3-pointer, highlighting her trust in her abilities and preparation.

“I trust in my preparation. I’m built for this moment…God, it feels good to get a win.”

Ionescu finished the game with 13 points, five rebounds, and six assists.

The victory was a team effort for New York, with standout performances from Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones, while Minnesota put up a strong fight with multiple players in double figures.

The series is still up for grabs, with the Lynx needing a win in Game 4 to force a Game 5 and keep their championship hopes alive.

Minnesota’s Strong Start

The Lynx began the game with a strong 21-7 run, taking control early on, but New York fought back to make it a close contest.

Courtney Vandersloot and Nyara Sabally played crucial roles for the Liberty, but an injury to Alanna Smith added uncertainty to Minnesota’s lineup.

New York’s Comeback

New York rallied in the third quarter, closing the gap and heading into the final frame with momentum on their side.

Key contributions from Fiebich, Ionescu, and Stewart brought the Liberty within striking distance of the lead.

The Intense Final Stretch

The final quarter saw both teams trading blows, with clutch plays on both ends of the court keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Ionescu’s heroics helped New York take the lead in the closing moments, setting up a thrilling finish.

Both teams fought hard in the final seconds, but it was Ionescu’s game-winning shot that sealed the victory for the Liberty.

Minnesota’s last-second attempt fell short, giving New York the edge in the series.

Final Thoughts

With the Liberty on the brink of their first WNBA title, Minnesota faces a must-win Game 4 to stay alive in the series.

The stage is set for a thrilling conclusion, with both teams vying for supremacy and a shot at championship glory.

The battle is far from over, and the outcome remains uncertain, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
