The WNBA will be the focus of a new scripted TV series.
Peacock is collaborating with two-time WNBA All-Star Chiney Ogwumike and “Glow” creators Carly Mensch and Liz Flahive on a comedy series about the world of professional women’s basketball titled “The W,” Deadline’s Peter White reports.
The half-hour show will follow a WNBA rookie and her agent and delve into the “glamour and grind” of women’s sports. Ogwumike and her longtime business partner and agent, Allison Galer, loosely inspired the program.
Ogwumike, who last played in the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2023, will executive produce the series through her company, Victorious.
The WNBA experienced a surge in popularity last season thanks largely to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, setting multiple TV and attendance records. The 2025 regular season gets underway May 16.
