Before Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings kicked off the 2025 regular season, the WNBA made sure to promote the rookie and her team.
The Wings selected Bueckers as the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, and as one of the most hyped prospects in the history of the league, she faces plenty of expectations.

Bueckers is also coming off a national championship win with the UConn Huskies, further amplifying the pressure on her to be a franchise-altering player for the Wings.
Sure enough, the WNBA itself believes that a new era is starting in Dallas with Bueckers leading the way. That much was made clear with its message before the Wings took on the Minnesota Lynx for the season opener.
“It’s a new era for the @dallaswings,” the WNBA wrote, along with a highlight reel of Bueckers. “Offseason moves brought key additions, including the No. 1 overall pick, Paige Bueckers.”
It remains to be seen if Paige Bueckers will be able to live up to the massive expectations and become an impactful player for the Wings immediately. However, there’s no denying that she has already shown the ability to do so.
