Brittney Griner is set to lead a group of WNBA players competing in the skills competition during the WNBA All-Star festivities.
Notably missing from the lineup is WNBA rookie standout Caitlin Clark, who recently set a WNBA record with 19 assists in a game.
This year, in addition to the traditional 3-point contest and skills competition, there will also be a 3×3 competition.
The event is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. MST on Friday and will be broadcasted on ESPN from the Footprint Center.
Griner, representing the host Mercury, will compete in the skills competition for the first time, facing off against teammates and players from other teams.
The competition involves an obstacle course that tests a range of basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting, with the players aiming for the fastest time.
The 3-point contest will feature several WNBA players, including Jonquel Jones, Stefanie Dolson, and Kayla McBride.
An exhibition match will also take place between the USA Basketball 3×3 Women’s National Team and the USA Basketball 3×3 U23 National Team.
The Women’s National Team, set to compete in the Olympics, includes players like Dearica Hamby, Rhyne Howard, Cierra Burdick, and Hailey Van Lith.
The U23 team features players such as Christina Dalce, Morgan Maly, Cotie McMahon, Lucy Olsen, Mikaylah Williams, and Serah Williams.
