A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo, a basketball power couple, have recently bashed a former ESPN reporter for asking “strange” questions about their personal lives. The comment came days after Wilson was named as Times’ 2025 Athlete of the Year. She went public after the interview and discussed many aspects of her life. She also talked candidly about her connection to the Miami Heat player. In an interview with the magazine, she then declared her desire to start a family with Adebayo, whom she has been dating since 2021. However, recently, the couple reportedly criticized a reporter for asking invasive questions following an interview.

Wilson recently referred to Adebayo as her “life partner” following her TIME honor, saying that starting a family with the three-time NBA All-Star would be a “dream.” A few days later, a former ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols used those words in an interview. Before Oklahoma City’s game against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night, Nichols interviewed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander during the NBA Cup semifinals. Nichols joked about the OKC general manager Sam Presti’s reported desire to discover potential talents. Nichols joked that when Wilson and Adebayo become parents, Presti would even be in the doctor’s office. To this, SGA jokingly replied:“Sam takes his job very serious, and whatever it takes to be great, he will do.”However, Wilson and Adebayo quickly used social media to bash Nichols because they didn’t find the question funny. Wilson wrote on Threads: “Yall don’t think this a lil strange orrrr weird..??? But I guess it’s a slow day in the office..”

After that, Adebayo wrote: “This why privacy matters.” The interview came days after Wilson was named as TIME’s Athlete of the Year. The Las Vegas Aces star revealed to TIME magazine that she and Adebayo have been dating for four years. When she was questioned about having kids together, she said: “That is always a dream. This is my life partner. Honestly, what on earth was my world before you? That’s how much he’s impacted my life.”Wilson continued:“Adebayo will make all marriage decisions and fans will see the ring on her finger when the time comes..” Adebayo then replied:“Y’all will know, because people are nosy and they’ll look at her hands.. There you go.”

A’ja Wilson delivered a historic 2025 season that established her as one of basketball’s true icons

A’ja Wilson’s 2025 season wrote her name in the all-time greats’ list of basketball. She was the best player and delivered some of the clutch plays when her team needed it the most. She took the Aces to finish the regular season on 16 straight wins and in October steered the team to a Finals sweep of the Phoenix Mercury, adding another championship to her career. Her playoffs were legendary, and secured her second Finals MVP award. No one else in NBA/WNBA history can match her level of being postseason, regular-season, Finals, and Defensive Player of the Year in a single season. However, Wilson’s influence extends far beyond the numbers. Her supremacy in 2025 demonstrated the league’s exceptional talent. Additionally, throughout everything and every ups and downs, her NBA partner has supported her.
