WNBA star Angel Reese continues to make headlines for her achievements off the court. At just 22, the Chicago Sky player has checked off two major life goals in the first few months of 2025: paying off her mother’s mortgage and purchasing her first home.

Angel Reese announces her new home on social media

On April 15, Angel Reese shared the exciting news on her social media with a photo of herself holding a large cutout of a house key. She captioned the post with green check emojis next to the words, “Retired my momma” and “Became a homeowner.” “All at 22,” she added. “So blessed.” In the corner of the photo, Reese wrote, “Knocked off 2 BIG things off my vision board in the first 4 months of the new year!” Fans flooded her comments with congratulatory messages, celebrating her latest milestone.

Reese claps back at critics with her accomplishments

The athlete didn’t shy away from addressing past critics in her posts. On X, she reposted a fan page highlighting her achievements and added her own remarks. “They said ‘she need to cover up’ so i went cover on VOGUE,” Reese wrote, referencing previous backlash about her fashion choices. She followed it up with, “they said ‘she can’t afford her rent’ so i went & bought a house.”The comment seemed to reference the October 2024 debate about her WNBA salary. At the time, Reese revealed that her reported $73,439 earnings weren’t enough to cover her $8,000 monthly rent. “I just hope y’all know, the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all,” she said in a post. “I don’t even think it pays one of my bills, literally.”

How did Reese achieve so much success at such a young age?

Despite the WNBA salary debate, Reese’s income extends far beyond basketball. She has secured major deals with brands like Reebok, Hershey’s Angel Reese’s Pieces, Beats by Dr. Dre, and Good American. She also hosts her own podcast, Unapologetically Angel, and has made strategic moves to grow her wealth. When critics questioned how she managed her expenses, Reese responded by pointing out her endorsements. A supporter tweeted, “Do y’all not see the collaborations and endorsements Angel has? I’m sure she doesn’t see that 8k leave her account.” Angel Reese replied, “Sister these folks don’t use common sense at all….”

Reese fulfills a lifelong goal by paying off her mother’s mortgage

Before becoming a homeowner herself, Reese achieved another major milestone in January 2025 by paying off her mother’s mortgage. During an episode of her podcast, she surprised her mom, Angel Webb Reese, with the news on her birthday. “You said that if your mortgage was paid off that you would retire or you won’t work,” Angel Reese told her. “You can pick if you want to work still, your mortgage today has been paid.” She added, “That was my biggest goal in life to retire you and pay your mortgage.”Also read: [PHOTOS]: Luka Doncic switches to brand-new look ahead of Los Angeles Lakers Play-Off game against Timbs; intentional twinning with Austin Reaves? With two major financial goals accomplished in just four months, Reese is proving that her success isn’t limited to basketball. At 22, she’s setting an example of hard work, smart investments, and the power of turning criticism into motivation.
