Angel Reese is thriving, and it’s not just because of her WNBA salary. During a recent Instagram Live session, reuploaded by a fan account on X (formerly Twitter), the 22-year-old professional basketball player jokingly mentions that she’s “living beyond [her] means.” Reese discloses that she pays $8,000 a month for her luxury apartment in Chicago, a cost that would be difficult to cover solely with her WNBA income, which was reported to be $73,439 for her first season with the Chicago Sky. As the seventh overall pick from Louisiana State University in this year’s WNBA draft, Reese is expected to earn $74,909 next season based on the current collective bargaining agreement. “I just hope y’all know the WNBA doesn’t pay my bills at all,” she states in the clip.
In a subsequent post, Reese seemed to confirm that a majority of her earnings come from her lucrative endorsements, brand deals, and ventures outside of the WNBA, largely due to her rapidly growing social media presence. With 4.4 million followers on Instagram and 4.6 million on TikTok, the Chicago Sky forward has collaborated with major brands like Reese’s, Beats by Dre, Coach, and Raising Cane’s. According to USA Today, she made approximately $1.7 million from sponsorships in 2022 and 2023 alone, more than enough to cover her apartment expenses.
