Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale announced on social media earlier this week that she married her girlfriend, influencer Lala Ronay, in a February ceremony.
The Instagram post featured a photo of the WNBA star and Ronay standing on the steps of a courthouse, holding their ringed fingers up to the camera and smiling.
“Here’s to a lifetime of us,” Ogunbowale wrote in the caption, along with the date of their nuptials, February 24, 2026.
Plenty of Ogunbowale’s colleagues flocked to the comments to offer their words of support, encouragement and congratulations.
“Congrats my favs,” wrote WNBA 2025 Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers. New York Liberty power forward Breanna Stewart added, “Waittt so married in Miami???? Omgggggg … congrats!!!!!!!!!”
The Instagram post featured a carousel of images that included Ogunbowale and Ronay walking down the courthouse steps, Ronay throwing her hands up in the air in celebration, and the newlyweds walking off into the distance together.
Ogunbowale, who is 29, has won much acclaim during her career in the WNBA. She is a four-time WNBA All Star who has received the title of WNBA All-Star Game MVP twice. She also set an All-Star scoring record — 34 points — at the 2024 game. (The following year, Napheesa Collier set the current All-Star high of 36 points.)
Ronay is a well-known influencer with almost half a million followers on Instagram and nearly 300,000 followers on TikTok. She specializes in beauty and lifestyle content, especially care for curly hair.
On Tuesday, Ronay posted a behind-the-scenes video to her TikTok consisting of footage from the wedding day. “Let’s go marry my best friend,” she wrote in the caption.
The video has been watched over 30,000 times and garnered over 8,000 likes. The top comment is from Ogunbowale, who wrote, “my wife” with a happy cry emoji, to which Ronay responded, “forever,” with hearts.
More than one in four WNBA players are out as gay. And while Ogunbowale may have looked outside the league for love, there are plenty of couples formed by WNBA players, including ones on the same professional team and on competing ones. As of August 2025, the league included five romantic relationships between players.
