The wife of New York Liberty superstar Breanna Stewart received a viciously homophobic email – and this doesn’t appear to be the first time.
According to the New York Post, Stewart’s wife – former pro basketball player Marta Xargay Casademont – appeared at the New York City Police Department’s 78th precinct in Brooklyn on Thursday to report the email she received.
The email read, among other things, ‘I hope someone shoots your wife dead, f**k you d***s [sic], I hope you both die.’
The Post added that a memo from NBA security says the email was sent from ‘an Internet address that has been associated with other hateful missives, including death threats, bomb threats and more racist rhetoric.’
Representatives from the New York Liberty did not respond to a request for comment from the Post.

Casademont and Stewart got married back in July of 2021 and the couple has two children.
Before retirement, Casademont won a silver medal with the Spanish national team at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Stewart and the Liberty are currently playing in the WNBA Finals – with the series tied at 1-1.
The next game in the series is on Wednesday in Minnesota.
