Brittney Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, recently joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. last month. Griner expressed her pride and support for her wife’s achievement on her Threads account.

Cherelle Griner joined the Delta Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona, and announced it on her personal Instagram. Many well-wishers, including Angel Reese and A’ja Wilson, congratulated her. Reese left heart-eye emojis in the comments, while Wilson exclaimed, “C’mon, Soror!!!!”
Griner, an HBCU graduate, overcame challenges in her personal life, including Brittney Griner’s legal issues in Russia, to graduate with honors when receiving her Juris Doctor degree. After divorcing her first wife in 2016, Brittney Griner got engaged to Cherelle Watson in August 2018 and married her in June 2019. Earlier this year, they welcomed their first child, a boy named Bash.

Griner, the first overall pick in the 2013 WNBA draft, won the 2014 WNBA championship with the Phoenix Mercury. She is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and a two-time World Cup gold medalist. Griner has also played overseas for teams like Zhejiang Golden Bulls, Beijing Great Wall, and UMMC Ekaterinburg in addition to the Phoenix Mercury.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. was founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University by nine collegiate women. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization for Black women. WNBA stars like Tiffany Mitchell, Morgan Tuck, and former WNBA President Lisa Borders are also members of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
