One of the most electric stars in the WNBA is trading the court for the booth this weekend, as Caitlin Clark joins the Sunday Night Basketball crew at NBC Sports for the tipoff of the new Sunday night NBA line-up on NBC.

Clark, a two-time WNBA All-Star, 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, All-Time Leading Scorer in NCAA Division I history, and Indiana Fever superstar has quickly become one of the most popular WNBA players — and pro athletes in general — during her college and young professional career.

“Caitlin is one of the most captivating players and dynamic scorers in basketball,” NBC Sports Executive Producer Sam Flood said in a statement. “We’re excited to have Caitlin join Hall of Famers Melo, Vince, Tracy and Reggie in New York for the launch of Sunday Night Basketball.”

Clark will join NBC Sports as a special contributor for the debut of Basketball Night in America live at Madison Square Garden in New York City on February 1 at 6 p.m. ET. The pre-show will serve as the lead-up to the marquee game that will see LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers taking on Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks at 7 p.m. ET on NBC and streaming on Peacock.

That Lakers vs. Knicks game will tipoff a doubleheader that will continue with NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder facing off against Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets at 9:30 p.m. ET, also on NBC and streaming on Peacock.

Clark will technically serve as a special contributor joining the Basketball Night in America studio team of Maria Taylor and analysts Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady for pregame commentary.

“I’m really excited to be part of the Basketball Night in America crew this season,” Clark said in a statement. “Carmelo, Vince, and Tracy are legends of the game and Maria is a true professional. It will be really fun to join them a few times this season.”

After making her debut on February 1, Clark will return in the same role in the studio on Sunday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City when the Oklahoma City Thunder host the New York Knicks.

Looking ahead, Sunday Night Basketball will pause on February 8 and February 15, due to NBC Sports’ coverage of Super Bowl LX, the NBA All-Star Game, and the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. It will resume on February 22 with the Celtics at the Lakers and continue through April 5, with 11 games in total including three doubleheaders.

Who is Caitlin Clark?

Caitlin Clark became a national figure during her dominant college career at the University of Iowa, which led to her being the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Since joining the Indiana Fever, Clark has continued to build her resume, quickly becoming a two-time WNBA All-Star and the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Clark, an Iowa-native, is widely considered one of the greatest collegiate players in women’s basketball history. She played four years at the University of Iowa and racked up several accolades that may never be surpassed: becoming the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I history (3,951), two Naismith College Player of the Year awards (2023, 2024), two AP College Player of the Year awards (2023, 2024), AP Female Athlete of the Year award (2024), and three-time unanimous First Team All-American (2022, 2023, 2024) awards.
