WNBA sensation Caitlin Clark is set to return to the LPGA’s ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge Pro-Am in November. It’s even more proof that Clark is a huge golf enthusiast.
Clark, who has long expressed her passion for the sport, is no stranger to the fairways. In recent years, she’s participated in several PGA Tour Pro-Ams, including the John Deere Classic and the RSM Classic, where she had the opportunity to play alongside stars like Zach Johnson and Ludvig Aberg.
“I had an amazing time at The ANNIKA last November and participating in the Pro-Am alongside Nelly Korda and Annika Sorenstam, two of the best in the game,” Clark said about returning to The Pelican Golf Club, according to lpga.com. “… I can’t wait to return to Tampa in November to play in the Pro-Am with the best women golfers in the world.”
Event host and golf legend Annika Sorenstam highlighted the tremendous opportunity that Clark’s presence at the event represents.
“It was an honor to play in the pro-am with Caitlin last year. The crowds were amazing, and we are excited for her return to The ANNIKA in November,” Sorenstam said, according to lpga.com. “She added such a great dynamic to our event, and her passion for golf and competitiveness were fun to witness firsthand. I look forward to having her back and continuing to introduce the great game of golf to the next generation.”
Last year, Clark joined The ANNIKA pro-am after revolutionizing women’s sports worldwide with her historic performances in both college basketball and the WNBA. Her impact coincided with Nelly Korda’s legendary season, in which she won seven tournaments, five of them consecutively.
Under such circumstances, it’s no surprise that Clark and Korda played nine holes together during the pro-am. This pairing attracted large crowds to the event, and it was one of the very few pro-am events broadcast worldwide.
It has not yet been announced who the WNBA star will play with, but it is now official that fans will be able to attend.
The ANNIKA is sponsored by Gainbridge, which is also one of Clark’s main sponsors. The Indiana Fever star also counts Nike among her sponsors, which has numerous golf stars in its catalog, such as Korda and men’s world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
