Former Las Vegas Aces star Dearica Hamby has agreed to dismiss her lawsuit against the team over allegations that she was discriminated against due to her pregnancy.

Hamby, who was traded from Las Vegas to current team the Los Angeles Sparks back in 2023, sued the Aces and the WNBA in August of last year after alleging discrimination and retaliation in the workplace.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court of Nevada, claimed that Aces coach Becky Hammon accused her of signing a contract extension while knowingly pregnant. Hamby said she found out she was pregnant with her second child a month after signing the extension during the 2022 season.

The forward – a bronze medal winner as part of the United States’ 3×3 team at the 2024 Paris Olympics – alleged that Hammon said team staff believed she would ‘get pregnant again for a third time.’ When Hamby asked her if she was being traded because she was pregnant, Hammon did not deny it, per the lawsuit.

Hamby also accused the WNBA of not adequately investigating her complaint when she initially brought it to their office, and of not renewing her marketing contract after she leveled the complaint. The case against the WNBA was dismissed in May.

And as first reported by Front Office Sports, the ex-Aces player has now mutually agreed to dismiss her suit against Las Vegas.

The two sides filed the motion to dismiss Thursday in the U.S. District Court of Nevada after they ‘resolved this matter and agreed to dismiss this action in its entirety’. Both parties have also agreed to pay their own attorney fees and costs.

Daily Mail has approached attorneys for Dearica Hamby, the Las Vegas Aces and the WNBA for comment.

Shortly after she filed the lawsuit, Hammon denied Hamby’s claims following the Aces’ 87-71 win over her new team, the Sparks, in Las Vegas. Hamby scored 13 points on the night while grabbing a team high 11 rebounds.

‘I’ve been in either the WNBA or the NBA for now 25 years,’ the Aces coach said. ‘I’ve never had an HR complaint. Never, not once. I still didn’t, actually, because Dearica didn’t file any. She didn’t file with the players’ union, she didn’t file with the WNBA. Those are facts.

‘It’s also factual that nobody made a call about trading her until Atlanta called us in January (2023). That’s a fact. So … it just didn’t happen.’

The former WNBA player and ex-San Antonio Spurs assistant coach also rejected Hamby’s claim that Hammon bullied her with questions about her commitment to the team.

‘I’m sorry, the bullying?’ Hammon said. I’ spoke with her every day. If she wanted to practice, she practiced. If she didn’t, she didn’t. Over-the-top care, actually. Over-the-top care.”

Hammon had denied Hamby’s claims since they first surfaced in May of 2023, saying that the former first-round pick was traded for strategic purposes.

The move did allow the Aces to sign future Hall of Famer Candace Parker, who helped Vegas win its second title in as many years.
