The Phoenix Mercury haven’t decided on their final roster ahead of the 2025 WNBA season. While most teams have trimmed down the number of players, the Mercury has yet to announce its final list of players. This led analyst Rachel Galligan to suggest a roster move for the Phoenix franchise.
On X, Galligan proposed that Mercury should secure a spot in the roster for Laeticia Amihere. On Wednesday, the former top-10 pick of the 2023 WNBA Draft was waived by the Golden State Valkyries. Along with Amihere, four other players (Kaitlyn Chen, Chloe Bibby, Elissa Cunane, and Migna Touré) were waived by the newest team in the league.

Amihere is an upcoming third-year player drafted by the Atlanta Dream. However, she was waived on Feb. 1 by the Dream.

Galligan believes the Phoenix franchise should rush to make a roster move and acquire the Canadian player.
“If I’m the Phoenix Mercury I’m scrambling to make way to pick up Laeticia Amihere,” Galligan said.
Amihere played in two preseason games for Golden State. Her first outing for the new WNBA team was against the Los Angeles Sparks. She showed promise as she came off the bench and had 20 points and two rebounds. The forward shot 63.6% from the field.
In her second preseason game, the 6-foot-3 player had five points, two assists and two steals. Amihere shot great with a 50% efficiency from the field.

The former Dream player didn’t get enough chances in Atlanta. During her first two years in the league, Amihere averaged 6.2 minutes and didn’t get many opportunities.
