Notre Dame and Olivia Miles are on the rise, causing doubts about Paige Bueckers’ chances of being the top pick. Despite once being the assumed first overall pick, Bueckers’ draft stock has shifted during the 2024-25 season.
Bueckers’ stats have suffered from inconsistency, leading to speculation about her top pick status. However, NCAA analyst Robin Lundberg believes that Bueckers’ star power will keep her in the conversation for the top spot.
“All of the sudden I’ve started to see that discussion (Bueckers’ candidacy for the top pick) pick up,” said (0:54). “I don’t think ultimately it is going to happen, especially because of the star power Paige Bueckers has and any prospective team is going to be very wary about passing up on that.”
Paige Bueckers, despite averaging 21.9 points per game, faces competition from Olivia Miles for the top pick in the 2025 WNBA draft.
Robin Lundberg predicts that Olivia Miles’ versatile skills could challenge Bueckers’ top pick status in the upcoming months. Miles, turning 21 on Jan. 29, 2025, will be eligible for the draft.
Olivia Miles sets triple-double records
Olivia Miles achieved her third triple-double of the season with 11 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds in Notre Dame’s victory over Virginia (95-54). Her performance ties her with Alyssa Thomas as the ACC leader in triple-doubles.
With back-to-back triple-doubles, Miles joins Caitlin Clark as one of the few players in major conferences to achieve this feat. She aims to set a new record against UNC on Jan. 5 and leads the NCAA in triple-doubles this season.
