Not long after sending Satou Sabally to her preferred destination in the Phoenix Mercury, the Dallas Wings completed another deal, acquiring restricted free agent DiJonai Carrington from the Connecticut Sun.
Dallas is sending Jacy Sheldon and the No. 8 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft to Connecticut in exchange for Carrington, the WNBA’s 2024 Most Improved Player, and the No. 12 pick in the upcoming draft. Winsidr’s Rachel Galligan first reported the trade.

The Wings had just acquired the No. 8 pick as part of the three-team trade headlined by Sabally, with Dallas receiving the pick and NaLyssa Smith, who is Carrington’s partner, from the Indiana Fever.
With the additions of Carrington and Smith, new Wings general manager Curt Miller, who coached Carrington during his final two seasons in Connecticut, is quickly retooling an intriguing team around Arike Ogunbowale and, hopefully, Paige Bueckers, the widely-presumed No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. The Sun, in contrast, appear to be entering a transitional season, if not a full rebuild, under new general manager Morgan Tuck; it will be interesting if other teams inquire about the availability of Marina Mabrey, Natasha Cloud and Rebecca Allen.
