I don’t want Dylan Budka to lose a payday but if Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) lets “The Mindless Hulk” compete after nearly collapsing at the UFC Vegas 97 weigh ins, then I think we can all agree there’s no reason for commissions to exist.
Especially when they blame this sort of thing on pre-fight jitters.
Budka missed weight for his middleweight matchup against Andre Petroski, scheduled for the UFC Vegas 97 “Prelims” card on ESPN+ this Sat. night (Sept. 7, 2024) at the promotion’s APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, coming in heavy at 188 pounds.
Petroski was under the allowable limit at 185.5.
Budka nearly toppled over while standing on the scale, a clear sign of an extreme weight cut. Handlers were forced to help the former “Contender Series” standout exit the stage where he will undoubtedly be examined by the UFC medical team.
Expect an update on the status of his Petroski fight at some point later today.
