ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Whitman College women’s basketball team started off the regular season with a strong defensive performance in a 63-48 victory over Franklin & Marshall in the Chuck Resler Tournament hosted by University of Rochester at Louis Alexandra Palestra.
The Blues advanced to the championship game on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. after defeating Franklin & Marshall. Carly Martin led the team with 12 points, Lindsay Drango contributed 10 points and five rebounds, and Korin Baker had six points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Whitman’s defense limited Franklin & Marshall to 30% shooting, setting the tone for the game by establishing a double-digit lead in the second quarter.
Kennedy Wilburn and Ally Trebelev led Franklin & Marshall with 12 and 10 points respectively, both grabbing eight rebounds.
The Blues opened the game strong, maintaining a close score in the first quarter before breaking away in the second quarter with contributions from multiple players, including three-pointers from Christiane Carlsile and Jordan Leith.
Whitman continued to build on their lead in the second half, finishing the game with a comfortable victory.
