Caitlin Clark was controversially left off the Team USA roster ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in France. However, as Team USA prepares for the World Cup, it sounds like she will be on the roster this time.
On Wednesday, Team USA officially announced its roster ahead of the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament next month. This time, Clark’s name was on the list.
This will mark Clark’s debut on the U.S. senior national team after previously playing on the Team USA junior team. This will also mark her return to the court after suffering a season-ending injury last year.
Needless to say, this announcement led to a lot of reactions on social media.
“I just hope everyone understands The instant that Caitlin Clark USA jersey hits the streets It will instantly become the best selling WBB jersey of all time and will never be topped,” one fan wrote in a post on X.
“The Queen of the Court is back,” someone else said.
“Man, I’m just excited to watch her hoop again,” another said.
“She’s back,” someone else said.
“My queen deserves this and so much more,” another person wrote.
Clark won’t be the only young player making their debut as Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese will also be on the roster.
The qualifying tournament will be in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from March 11-17. Though the United States will not be trying to qualify after already qualifying by winning the 2025 AmeriCup competition last summer, this will be a chance for Clark and the other young players to get some experience and prepare for the World Cup.
The FIBA World Cup will be in Berlin from Sept. 4-13. The United States has won that event 11 times, including the past four in a row.
