It may only be February, but that doesn’t mean it is too early for WNBA Finals predictions. Some analysts and fans have already shared their thoughts on the subject, but which team does X’s (formerly Twitter) Grok think will win the 2025 WNBA Finals? We recently took the time to ask Grok and the answer did not disappoint.
Grok provided potential contenders, a “dark horse” and a champion prediction. Let’s take a closer look at Grok’s 2025 WNBA predictions.
Grok names Indiana Fever as “dark horse”
We will reveal Grok’s actual championship prediction later in the article, but it is worth mentioning that Grok said the Fever could be a “potential dark horse.” However, it also wrote that “their development is uncertain.”
Caitlin Clark stole headlines throughout the 2024 campaign. She is already one of the best and most popular players in the league. Clark could take another step forward in 2025.
Indiana made a number of moves during the offseason, adding players such as DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard. The Fever’s improved depth to go along with their already exciting ceiling makes them a “potential dark horse” without question.
Indiana is not Grok’s prediction to win the 2025 WNBA Finals, however.
“Strong alternatives”
After naming the Fever as a dark horse, Grok listed the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces as “strong alternatives” to its championship winning team prediction. In other words, Grok seems to believe that the Aces and Lynx will make deep postseason runs, with one likely reaching the WNBA Finals before losing to the team it predicted to win the championship.
Of course, if Grok’s prediction comes true then it will feel quite similar to 2024. The Aces and Lynx both reached the WNBA Semifinals during the ’24 postseason, where Las Vegas was defeated and Minnesota advanced. The Lynx ended up losing in the WNBA Finals to a certain team from New York, though.
Did Grok predict that the New York Liberty will repeat as champions?
Grok’s 2025 WNBA Finals prediction
Grok did indeed pick the Liberty to earn a second consecutive championship, following in the footsteps of the Aces who won back-to-back WNBA Finals in 2022 and 2023.
The “evidence leans toward” New York repeating as champions, Grok wrote in the prediction. The Liberty enjoyed a terrific 2024 campaign en route to a championship. New York still features plenty of talent, so it would not be surprising to see them take care of business once again.
Nevertheless, Grok did acknowledge the Fever, Aces and Lynx as potential threats to the Liberty’s 2025 championship hopes.
