LEXINGTON, Ky. – As announced on Tuesday, Kentucky junior Zoe Hammond has been named an Academic All-American as a part of the nation’s third team. The economics major graduated in May with her undergraduate degree and is the lone student-athlete among the list with a 4.0 GPA.
The 2024-25 Academic All-American® Women’s Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Individuals are nominated on behalf of each school, in which they must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a 3.50 GPA, and compete in five competitions or finish top eight at a conference meet that season. Those nominees are then put into consideration for the Academic All-District and All-American teams.
This is one of the many awards that Hammond has won in her junior season. On the court she played at the first singles position all season long beating five ranked opponents, three of those being against the ITA No. 3, No. 5, and No. 21. This marked Zoe as an All-SEC Second Team member and a career high singles ranking of No. 35, along with being named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Academic All-District.
