The United States women’s national team won gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, but everyone involved with U.S. Soccer knew that the side was primed to go through a serious transition regardless of the result. Now that head coach Emma Hayes has no major trophies to win for more than two years, she has the time to decide what the future of the program will look like going into the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, and beyond.

The ‘futures camp’, scheduled for this month in San Diego, will provide the opportunity to see who might have the ability to mix with the established veterans of the USWNT. So, which players should get a serious look in this setup? Here are six young professional players who should not escape Hayes’ eye based on their talents and the team’s needs.

For this list, we’re keeping our picks to the professional game since this might be the first tournament cycle where most of the international-caliber players under the age of 22 are no longer in college. Plenty of college talent like Trinity Byars, Teagan Wy, Lexi Missimo, Mia Justus, and Quincy McMahon could end up in the futures camp, but we’ll stick with the players whose production has already been measured against some of the best players in the world.
