BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Buffalo State women’s soccer team held strong in a defensive showdown, earning a 0-0 draw against I-90 rival SUNY Brockport.

Riley Stevenson (Albany, NY/Guilderland) led the Bengals with two shots on goal, on three shots. Makenzie Below (Saugerties, NY/ Saugerties), Gwen Jarosz (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield), and Olivia Kilmer (Hammondsport, NY/Avoca) were each credited for a shot on goal.
Taylor Clisson (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) started and played a complete game for the Bengals, making nine saves in net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Coming off a tough loss to St. John Fisher, the Bengals looked to rebound against I-90 rival SUNY Brockport. The opening 45 minutes turned into a defensive battle, with both offenses kept in check and neither side able to break through. Despite a few late opportunities, the score remained locked at 0-0 at halftime.
After the break, the pace picked up as both teams pushed for the “golden goal.” The Golden Eagles applied pressure, but Clisson and the Bengals’ defense held firm. The Bengals countered with several late chances, including five corner kicks in the second half, but the Golden Eagles’ defense stood tall. With time expiring, the Bengals couldn’t find the winner, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
FOR THE FOES
Lavanya Upadhyay led all players with four shots on goal.
Emily McCane and Madeline McCrosson split time in net, with McCrosson leading the Golden Eagles with three saves in net.
