TEMPE, Ariz. – The UCLA Men captured their first Big Ten championship title in team history while The College of New Jersey Women won its 42nd consecutive NJAC crown, rounding out the second weekend of conference tournament play.

At their first Big 10 Championships in Columbus, the Bruins downed host and top-seeded Ohio State, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon. Emon van Loben Sels delivered the clincher, prevailing in three sets in a match against the Buckeyes’ Alexander Bernard that lasted more than three hours.

Out west in Ojai, the No. 9 Ohio State Women were locked in a thriller of a final with No. 3 Michigan. Trailing 3-2, Ohio State’s Sydni Ratliff tied the match with a gutsy three-set win, leaving the title match to be decided in a third set between freshmen Nao Nishino (OSU) and Emily Sartz-Lunde (Michigan) on court four. Nishino dropped the first set, won the second in a tiebreaker and took the third by a 6-4 score to clinch both the match and the Buckeyes’ team title. It was the fourth conference championship in team history and their first in four years.

Elsewhere on the west coast, the No. 7 San Diego Men lifted its eighth WCC Tournament Title in the last nine years, courtesy of a 4-2 win against No. 23 Pepperdine at San Diego State.

In Division II play, No. 2 Valdosta State Men thumped No. 1 West Florida in the Gulf South Conference Men’s Tennis Championship final, 4-1, on Saturday, claiming their GSC-best 17th league title. In winning their third straight league championship for the first time since 2018-21, the Blazers also improved to 20-0 this spring, extending their winning streak to 36 matches dating back to the final 16 victories of last season en route to the program’s third national title in 2024.

The Mississippi College Women rounded out the Gulf South Conference Championship weekend with its first title in team history, as the Choctaws defeated West Alabama, 4-2, to become the first No. 2 seed to win the GSC Women’s Tennis Championship since 2019.

A number of schools swept their way through the men’s and women’s brackets, as Virginia Commonwealth (Atlantic 10) and Quinnipiac (Metro Atlantic) in Division I and Barry (Sunshine State) in Division II all brought home a pair of titles.

In Division III, the TCNJ Women continued their incredible run at the NJAC championships, as their 4-0 sweep of Stockton delivered the school’s 42nd consecutive title. It’s the longest-known conference championship streak in the NCAA.
