JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women’s Soccer defeated Queens, 2-1, to remain unbeaten in ASUN Conference action at Hodges Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

North Florida improves to 4-5-2, 2-0 ASUN.

At the halftime break, North Florida honored three decades of alumni for its 30th Season Anniversary match.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Chrissa Avery played the full time in goal and notched two saves in her third-consecutive start.

The Ospreys threatened early with a pair of shots from senior midfielder Chloe Lynch and redshirt junior forward/midfielder Isabella Pontieri in the first three minutes of action. Despite the early offensive momentum, North Florida and Queens were deadlocked at zero headed into the locker room.

North Florida outshot its visitors, 11-2, with five shots on goal in the initial half.

North Florida broke through in the 49th minute when redshirt junior forward Allie Fekany scored her third goal in the last two matches with a back heel kick. Fekany played the ball off a service in the six-yard frame from sophomore Allison Souers to secure the 1-0 lead. For Fekany, it marked her fourth goal of the season and 12th of her career.

Pontieri added to the margin to make it 2-0 in the 78th minute with a strike off her left foot from an assist from Souers. It marked the second-straight match with a goal, the fifth goal of the season and the 11th career goal for Pontieri. Pontieri registered a match-high eight shots, which eclipsed her single-match career high in shots.

For Souers, the two assists were also a single-match career high.

Queens trimmed the margin in the 84th minute to make it 2-1.

Overall, 19 Ospreys logged action in the match. In addition to Avery, sophomore defender Julia Cosgrove and freshman defender Marisa Ocasek logged the full time. It marked the fourth-straight match of full time for Ocasek and the seventh match this season of full time for Cosgrove.

North Florida welcomes crosstown rival Jacksonville to Hodges Stadium for the first matchup of the River City Rumble series on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
