The Pokemon Company has confirmed the launch of PokemonXP, a new fan-focused event set to run alongside the 2026 Pokemon World Championships in San Francisco.
The inaugural PokemonXP will take place from August 28–30, 2026, at the Moscone Center, the same venue hosting the main World Championships competition. Championship Sunday will be staged at the Chase Center.
What Is PokémonXP?
While the World Championships will continue to crown champions across the Pokemon Trading Card Game, Pokemon Champions, UNITE, and Go, PokemonXP will focus on panels, interactive activities, and live entertainment.
Planned features at PokemonXP include:
Creator and developer panels
Workshops and interactive sessions
A dedicated Pokemon Center retail space
Live performances and community meet-ups
Cosplay and art showcases
The move formalises what has gradually become a larger on-site footprint for Pokemon Worlds in recent years, separating the competitive stage from a more structured fan convention environment.
PokémonXP and Worlds 2026 Ticket Information
Ticket sales for both PokemonXP and the 2026 Pokemon World Championships are scheduled to begin later in 2026, with additional details on access tiers and event programming expected in the coming months.
PokemonXP was announced on Friday, February 27, as part of the 30-year anniversary Pokemon Presents presentation.
During the presentation, The Pokemon Company also announced the Generation 10 games – Pokemon Winds & Pokemon Waves – as well as anniversary content for other titles like Pokemon Go, and more details on the imminent re-release of Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Leaf Green on Nintendo Switch consoles.
This is the first time PokemonXP will take place and, if all goes well, it could become a permanent fixture of the Pokemon calendar going forward and become the focal point of each year for the franchise.
