LeBron James continues to scale new heights when it comes to his longevity. He already holds the NBA records for the most All-Star game appearances and All-NBA selections, and once the 2025-26 season starts, he will set another record by beginning his 23rd season in the league.
He is still playing at a superstar level, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down yet. He has played in multiple eras of NBA basketball, and one stat illustrates how long he has stuck around.

According to Legion Hoops, James has played either with or against 36.43% of all the players who have ever played in the NBA.
Last season, the 40-year-old averaged 24.4 points on 51.3% field-goal shooting and 37.6% from 3-point range, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists a game. His scoring, rebounding and assists numbers per 36 minutes have been remarkably stable dating back to his second or third year in the league, which is a testament to how well he has maintained his health and fitness.
With Luka Doncic now assuming the Lakers’ main ball-handling and facilitating duties, perhaps James will be able to age even more gracefully the rest of the way.
