Greg Anderson has had a successful career in NHRA, with his sixth Pro Stock championship being a particularly meaningful accomplishment.
Anderson finally got the opportunity he desired – a winner-takes-all final round in Pomona. He defeated teammate Dallas Glenn in a thrilling race, clocking a time of 6.501 seconds at 211.30 mph in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro to narrowly beat Glenn’s 6.516.
This win marked Anderson’s 106th victory in Pro Stock, creating an unforgettable moment for him.
With this sixth world championship, Anderson now ties Erica Enders and Warren Johnson for the second-most titles in Pro Stock history.
This championship victory is particularly remarkable considering the strong competition from young standouts like Glenn and Aaron Stanfield throughout the season and during the Countdown to the Championship.
Despite initial setbacks, Anderson’s consistent performance and strategic wins in Phoenix and Charlotte helped him secure the points lead. His perseverance throughout the season paid off, culminating in this significant championship win.
The intense competition during the playoff races kept Anderson on his toes, but his exceptional performance in Pomona ultimately secured the championship for him.
By clinching his sixth world title, Anderson not only solidified his place in Pro Stock history but also contributed to KB Titan Racing’s 10th overall championship.
Other notable finishers in the championship standings include Glenn in second place, Stanfield in third, and Enders in fourth despite winning only once.
