Liga F Barcelona came from behind to sweep aside Valencia via a 4-1 scoreline on Matchday 21. Elsewhere, Athletic Club claimed a 2-0 win over Granada to move level with third-placed Atlético Madrid in the battle for European qualification.

Here, we will round up all the action from Matchday 21 of the 2024/25 Liga F season.

Levante 2-0 Costa Adeje Tenerife

Levante boosted their survival hopes with a successful home outing against Tenerife on Saturday.

Ivonne Chacón opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark. The Colombia international collected the ball on the edge of the box before she sent a precise strike into the bottom corner.

Chacón then added her and Levante’s second in the 40th minute, squeezing the ball home from a narrow angle to give her side a two-goal cushion at the break.

Tenerife were unable to find a response in the second period, ensuring Levante could celebrate three precious points. As a result of the victory, Levante have moved to within two points of safety with nine games left to play.

Levante Badalona 0-0 Real Sociedad

Badalona and Real Sociedad had to be content with a point from Saturday’s clash at Estadi Municipal de Badalona.

Badalona goalkeeper María Valenzuela made three saves during the contest. Meanwhile, her opposite number, Elene Lete, pulled off five stops to ensure the contest finished in a goalless draw.

The result extends Badalona’s winless run to four matches, leaving them in 10th place in Liga F. As for Real Sociedad, they are now four points adrift of the top three after failing to win any of their last five league games.

Espanyol 3-3 Madrid CFF

There were five second-half goals in Saturday’s thrilling match between Espanyol and Madrid CFF. Allegra Poljak scored the only goal of the first period to give the visitors a narrow lead at the break.

The hosts were given the chance to go to the penalty spot in the 54th minute after the referee spotted a handball in the box. Carolina Marín blasted the penalty home to score her first goal of the season. But Nataša Andonova quickly restored the visitors’ advantage, controlling the ball on the edge of the box before thumping it into the far corner.

The hosts then scored two goals in as many minutes to turn the dramatic contest in their favour. First, Paula Perea headed in off the crossbar before Trudi Carter hooked the ball in from close range.

Unfortunately for the hosts, there proved to be one final twist in the seventh minute of stoppage time. Poljak fizzed the ball across the face of goal for Emilie Nautnes to steer home the all-important equaliser.

Granada 0-2 Athletic Club

Athletic claimed a crucial victory in their bid to secure European qualification. The Basque outfit opened the scoring shortly before the hour mark. Ane Azkona placed the ball past Sandra Estévez to score her fourth goal in as many games.

Estévez did not cover herself in glory for Athletic’s second, as she failed to deal with a deep free-kick after deciding to come off her line. As a result, Maddi Torre was left with the simple task of tapping into an empty net to seal all three points.

Athletic are now just sitting outside the top three on goal difference, while Granada are five points adrift in sixth place.

Barcelona 4-1 Valencia

Basement side Valencia took a surprise lead in Sunday’s away meeting with Barcelona. Marina Martí’s left-foot shot deflected off Irene Paredes’ head, causing it to loop out of Gemma Font’s reach and into the net.

However, the visitors’ lead lasted just three minutes before Alexia Putellas restored parity. Kika Nazareth then exchanged a slick one-two with Putellas before she rolled the ball into the bottom corner.

Ewa Pajor added a third in the 66th minute to take her Liga F tally to 17 goals. There was still time left for Aitana Bonmatí to get in on the act. The two-time Ballon d’Or winner drilled a low shot past Antonia Canales to wrap up a comfortable victory.

Barcelona stay five points clear of Real Madrid, while Valencia are now 11 points adrift of safety.

Sevilla 0-4 Real Madrid

Real Madrid produced a strong response to their heavy 5-0 defeat against Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa de la Reina semi-finals. Alba Redondo and Athenea del Castillo grabbed a goal apiece to give Real Madrid a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.

Redondo poked home her second in the 70th minute to end any hope of a Sevilla fightback. Matters got worse for the hosts when goalkeeper Esther Sullastres was shown a straight red card for handling a goalbound shot outside her area.

Substitute Naomie Feller found the net in the closing stages to round off a successful away trip for Las Blancas.

Atlético Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Third-placed Atleti would have been disappointed to drop two points against relegation-threatened Betis. The hosts had 69% possession, racked up 19 shots and registered six efforts on target, but they were unable to find the all-important breakthrough. As for Betis, they would have been pleased to pick a useful point in their survival fight.

Deportivo La Coruña 0-1 Eibar

Sunday’s match was decided by Esperanza Pizarro’s 73rd-minute effort. The Eibar forward scored directly from a free-kick on the left flank. The whipped shot flew over Dépor goalkeeper Inês Pereira before drifting in at the far post. Pizarro’s third league goal of the season proved enough to seal all three points, moving them up to ninth place in the standings. Meanwhile, the hosts are in 12th place and four points above the bottom three.
