Caitlin Clark’s Former Coach Lands New Job Outside of WNBA originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have faced their share of challenges early in the 2025 WNBA season, their first under head coach Stephanie White. Clark has missed more than half of the team’s games due to injury, a significant blow to the Fever’s lineup.

Despite the All-WNBA point guard’s absence, White has guided the team to a three-game winning streak entering Saturday, including a Commissioner’s Cup championship.

White rejoined the Fever after two seasons with the Connecticut Sun. The 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year was hired shortly after Indiana dismissed former coach Christie Sides, who had only spent two seasons with the team.

But it appears Sides has made a return to basketball on the international stage. On Saturday, she was spotted at the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup semifinals, coaching the Canada national team against the USA.

Turns out, the Canada national team announced Sides as one of their assistant coaches on June 25, along with Carly Clarke, Murriel Page and head coach Nell Fortner.

Team USA defeated Sides and Canada 65-53, ending Canada’s hopes of a first-place finish. However, Canada will have a chance to compete for third place on Sunday.

Still, WNBA fans couldn’t help but notice Sides in the above video, taking to social media to leave their thoughts.

“Sides 👀,” one fan said.

“I see you Christie Sides!” added another.

“Well, well, well look where Sides ended up,” wrote a third.

“I see you Coach Sides,” posted a fourth.

“Is that Christie sides? Lol,” asked a fifth.

“Sides😭,” added a sixth.

Sides, born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, started her WNBA coaching career in 2011 as an assistant with the Chicago Sky. She joined the Fever in 2017 as an assistant as well, one year after White’s first tenure in Indiana.

After three seasons in Indiana, Sides joined the Atlanta Dream in 2022 before returning to the Fever as head coach the following year. Over two seasons, she led the team to a 33-47 overall record and guided them to a playoff appearance in 2024 alongside Clark.
