DAZN PPV, 5:30 pm ET, Ryan Garcia vs Rolly Romero. Garcia hasn’t fought since failing drug tests following his now-overturned win against Devin Haney a year ago, and now he’s back as a welterweight, with Romero moving up to 147 to face him. Devin Haney is also back as a welterweight, and Jose Ramirez is moving up a division for that matchup, too, so the welterweight division is getting some fresh blood — well, maybe not fresh, but certainly some bigger names coming into the mix. Teofimo Lopez defends his 140 lb belt against Arnold Barboza Jr in what is probably the real best matchup on the show, and Teo has been in rare form during the press events. BLH will have live updates.
Saturday, May 3
ESPN+, 4:00 pm ET, Inoue vs Cardenas weigh-in.
DAZN PPV, 6:45 pm ET, Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull. Canelo looks to again become undisputed at 168 lbs, as he’ll defend his three belts against the IBF title Scull won last October. Canelo will be a huge favorite, and if and when he wins, he moves on to defend that crown against Terence “Bud” Crawford in September. Undercard: Bruno Surace and Jaime Munguia meet in a rematch, Badou Jack and Norair Mikaeljan settle the WBC cruiserweight title debacle, Martin Bakole takes on Efe Ajagba, Marco Verde makes his pro debut. BLH will have live updates.
Sunday, May 4
ESPN+, 6:15 pm ET, Inoue vs Cardenas prelims. Ra’eese Aleem, Rohan Polanco, Emiliano Vargas, and more in action.
ESPN and ESPN+, 10:00 pm ET, Naoya Inoue vs Ramon Cardenas. The huge weekend closes shop in Las Vegas on Sunday night, with Naoya Inoue making his return to American soil for the first time since 2021. Cardenas is a qualified challenger at 122 lbs, but it’s expected to be business as usual for the undisputed champ Inoue, likely setting up a Riyadh trip to face Murodjon Akhmadaliev this summer. Rafael Espinoza will defend his WBO featherweight title against Edward Vazquez in the chief support. BLH will have live updates.
