Serie A Femminile champions Roma boosted their fading title hopes with a precious 3-1 victory over Juventus, bringing an end to the leaders’ unbeaten league record. Elsewhere, AC Milan staged a late fightback to rescue a point from their away match with Sampdoria.

Join us, as we recap all five matches that took place on match day 15 of the Serie A Femminile season.

Napoli 0-4 Lazio

Lazio swept past Napoli with minimal fuss in Saturday’s away fixture. Martina Piemonte found the net for the second game in a row to give the visitors the early breakthrough. Lazio then scored two goals in the space of three minutes to establish a three-goal lead at the break. First, Antonietta Castiello guided the ball home from Clarisse Le Bihan’s low cross, before Eleonora Goldoni drilled a right-footed shot into the bottom corner from outside the box.

Napoli were given the chance to gain a foothold when the referee pointed to the spot in the opening stages of the second period following a clumsy challenge in the box. However, Manuela Sciabica failed to capitalise on the opportunity, blazing her spot-kick over the crossbar. Castiello then netted her second and Lazio’s fourth to wrap up the club’s first away league win of the season.

Sampdoria 2-2 AC Milan

After playing out a goalless first half, Sampdoria and AC Milan produced an exhilarating second period at Stadio La Sciorba. Bianca Fallico guided the ball in off the far post to break the deadlock in the first minute of the second half. Nicole Arcangeli went on to double Sampdoria’s advantage, putting her side on course to claim their first win of the season.

However, Milan ultimately had other ideas, scoring two late goals to salvage a point. Nikola Karczewska pounced on a rebound to squeeze the ball home from close range. Julie Piga then drove a right-footed shot in at the near post to score a 90th minute equaliser. The draw keeps Sampdoria at the bottom of the table, while Milan are in sixth place and three points adrift of the top five.

Inter 1-0 Como

Second-placed Inter moved to within four points of the top spot with a narrow win over Como on Sunday. Inter forward Elisa Polli scored the game’s decisive goal in the second period. The substitute calmly brought down Olivia Schough’s cross before slotting the ball past former Inter goalkeeper Astrid Gilardi. After claiming a third consecutive league win, Inter will now turn their focus to a mammoth clash against leaders Juventus.

Roma 3-1 Juventus

Juventus suffered their first league defeat of the season in Sunday’s away meeting with Roma. Giulia Dragoni required just three minutes to find the opener, moving past a couple of defenders before sending the ball soaring into the top corner. Roma remained in front until Barbara Bonansea restored parity just before the hour mark. However, just ten minutes later, Manuela Giugliano steered the ball home from Benedetta Glionna’s cut-back to net her seventh league goal of the season.

Elena Linari went on to score a late penalty to seal three crucial points. However, Roma know they still have significant work to do if they are to retain their title, with seven points separating them from Juventus.

Fiorentina 1-1 Sassuolo

Davina Philtjens bundled the ball in from Elena Dhont’s low cross to give Sassuolo a 35th minute lead against Fiorentina. Unfortunately for the visitors, they were unable to hold on to their slender advantage until the half-time interval. Fiorentina were given the chance to equalise from the spot after Sara Mella was penalised for a clumsy challenge in the box.

Emma Severini kept her composure to dispatch the subsequent penalty, sending the two teams into the break on level terms. That ultimately proved to be the final goal of the match, with the draw extending Fiorentina’s winless run to five competitive matches.
