Conor Benn Arrives In Riyadh To Scout Haney–Norman Jr. Fight

Conor Benn posted a picture on social media, standing next to a plane after arriving in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for tonight’s Ring IV event at the ANB Arena. It’s believed that Benn is on a scouting mission for Devin Haney to see if he comes out victorious in his title fight against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. in their chief support bout.

Scouting Mission Begins

Fans are interested in seeing if Benn will enter the ring after the fight to call out the winner of the Haney-Norman Jr. fight publicly. That might not happen if Norman Jr. vaporizes Haney. He’s not been mentioned by Benn. It’s understandable because he’d be highly dangerous for the easy-to-hit Conor.

Haney is one of the primary names that Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) already called out last Saturday night after his victory over Chris Eubank Jr. in their rematch on November 15th.

Will There Be a Post-Fight Ambush?

If Benn wants Haney, he’ll have his opportunity to begin an early promotion for the fight tonight if he’s victorious. As long as Conor is allowed into the ring moments after the fight, he begins selling a mega-fight between them.

Haney wants a rematch with Ryan Garcia, but he’ll be tied up for a while with his title shot against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios on February 21, 2026. So, there’s plenty of time for Haney and Benn to get a fight made quickly for early next year. Devin needs to do the job tonight against Norman Jr.

At this point, Benn appears to be very selective in his opponent choices. When he moved up to 160 for two fights, he targeted 168-pounder Eubank Jr., and fought him at middleweight with a 10-lb rehydration clause added for good measure.

Chasing Names, Not Danger

It was a double handicap, triple if you count the fact that he wasn’t facing one of the apex 168-lb contenders, like Osleys Iglesias, Lester Martinez, Christian Mbilli, or Diego Pacheco.

Dragging one of them down to 160 and sticking a 10-lb rehydration clause handicap wouldn’t likely be effective. Those guys would be like a pack of wolves if let loose inside the ring at any weight against Conor Benn.
