The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to face setbacks this season, with a string of injuries plaguing the team. The latest casualty is catcher Austin Barnes, who suffered an injury.
Reports from Dodgers Daily indicate that catching prospect Hunter Feduccia has been called up to the major leagues along with Max Muncy and Tommy Edman. Barnes was struck by a hard foul ball on his left toe during Sunday’s game, forcing him out of action.
So far this season, Barnes has posted a .241 batting average with one home run and eight RBIs in 44 games. He has provided the team with a reliable option behind Will Smith, so it is hoped that his injury is not too serious.
Feduccia made a brief appearance for the Dodgers earlier this season in a game against the San Diego Padres, registering one at-bat. While he did not record any stats in that game, he has performed well in Triple-A.
The left-handed hitter has a .282 batting average with six home runs and 46 RBIs. The duration of his current stint in the majors is uncertain, but it could be an opportunity for him to showcase his abilities to the organization.
