England take on Ghana in their final game of 2025, and here we give our predicted lineup for Tuesday’s friendly in Southampton.

England team news

The Lionesses are depleted in defence going into their final game of 2025 at St Mary’s Stadium.

Leah Williamson, Alex Greenwood and Katie Reid were notable absentees in Sarina Wiegman’s squad selection, with the latter suffering an ACL injury since the last international break.

There has been a further defensive blow over the weekend, with Liverpool captain Grace Fisk withdrawn from the squad due to a minor calf injury.

Wiegman has already admitted there will be changes to the England squad. Two players who could drop out of the starting XI are Lucy Bronze and Niamh Charles, who both had injury issues at the start of the campaign.

Maya Le Tissier could move to the right-back slot to start her fourth consecutive game for England, with a centre-back partnership of Esme Morgan and Lotte Wubben-Moy.

Taylor Hinds, whose international future “is still up in the air” according to Jamaica boss Hubert Busby Jr, is likely to slot in at left-back, after making her England debut against Australia in October.

What other changes will be made to the England lineup vs Ghana?

Georgia Stanway played the full 90 minutes against China so it would be no surprise to see her drop to the bench.

Sophia Kendall could play alongside Keira Walsh, much like she did against Australia in October.

Although Ella Toone also played the full 90 against China, our predicted lineup for England vs Ghana sees her make the starting XI, with potentially Missy Bo Kearns coming on as a second-half substitute.

Beth Mead and Lauren Hemp only played one half of football against China and could likely do something similar against Ghana. However, we predict that Jess Park will start on the right flank over Mead after her excellent performances for Manchester United this season.

Aggie Beever-Jones is almost certain to start after she appeared alongside Sarina Wiegman in the press conference. This could allow Alessia Russo a rare rest on the bench.

Chelsea forward Beever-Jones will hope to impress amid her competition with Russo for the starting striker spot.

Will any England players make their debuts against Ghana?

Given England’s defensive crisis, West Ham’s Anouk Denton has a chance of making her debut off the bench as a second-half substitute.

London City Lionesses forward Freya Godfrey also has a chance after receiving her first England call-up for this month’s fixtures.

Manchester City’s Laura Blindkilde Brown won her one and only cap last December, and it is possible she might end her year-long wait against Ghana.

England predicted lineup vs Ghana

England: Moorhouse; Le Tissier, Wubben-Moy, Morgan, Hinds; Walsh, Kendall; Park, Toone, Hemp; Beever-Jones
