Manchester United are ‘increasingly confident’ in signing Bayern Munich duo, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui this summer window.
Fabrizio Romano provided the latest update, stating:
“The negotiation is ongoing between Manchester United and Bayern, and they [United] already had a bid rejected, but they are increasingly confident because they have an agreement with both players, for a five-year contract plus option for both of them, and they absolutely want to join Manchester United.”
“De Ligt has been waiting since June, and Mazraoui’s agreement was reached in July, so both players are giving total priority to Manchester United.”
The club has already agreed to personal terms with De Ligt and Mazraoui, each set to join on a five-year contract.
The urgency for defensive reinforcements at United has been underscored by the summer departures of Raphael Varane and Willy Kwambala, alongside last season’s injury woes.
Securing De Ligt and Mazraoui would significantly bolster United’s back-line, addressing a critical need.
Meanwhile, United’s interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte continues.
The Red Devils have been in talks with PSG over the Uruguayan midfielder throughout the summer, seeking to strengthen their midfield options.
German journalist Florian Plettenburg reported that discussions are ongoing, despite previous difficulties in agreeing on a transfer fee.
The next few weeks promise to be busy for United, with plenty of business yet left to be done.
