Chicago Bulls guard Dalen Terry is hosting a two-day basketball camp for young aspiring athletes in his community. The former University of Arizona standout shares his motivation for starting the camp in the Valley of the Sun. Another Dalen Terry Youth Camp is scheduled for August 24-25 in Tucson, Arizona.
At the Inspire Courts in Gilbert, Arizona, Dalen Terry, now in his third season with the Chicago Bulls, exudes a sense of comfort and joy not often seen in NBA players at grassroots basketball events. Terry, 22, held the inaugural Dalen Terry Basketball Camp at the same facility, located near the neighborhoods where he grew up and honed his skills to become the No. 18 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Terry’s goal with the camp is to provide kids with the opportunity he lacked as a young basketball enthusiast in Phoenix. He wants them to know that they too can achieve success in the sport, regardless of their background. Approximately 85 youth participated in the camp, learning fundamental skills and enjoying games like knockout for prizes.
Players like TyTy Washington, Koa Peat, and Marcus Bagley, who share Terry’s connection to Phoenix, volunteered their time to support the camp. Bagley, Terry’s former classmate, reflects Terry’s passion for basketball from their middle school days in Chandler to their high school years in various Arizona schools and grassroots teams.
Terry’s journey from Aprende Middle School to the NBA Draft has been fueled by his love for the game and his determination to inspire young athletes in Phoenix. He wants every child in the city to feel empowered to pursue their dreams, just as he did.
