JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida women’s soccer (3-1-2) rallied with two unanswered goals to down Mercer (4-1-1), 2-1, Sunday, Sept. 1 from Hodges Stadium. Masen Frey provided the equalizer with her first-career goal, while Paige McSwigan scored a goal off a free kick in the 70th minute for the game winner.
The Ospreys handed the Bears their first loss through six games, while extending UNF’s unbeaten streak at Hodges Stadium to four-straight games to start the year.

Inside the Match
First Half: Bella Pontieri provided the first good opportunity of the match, but her shot was saved by Mercer keeper Lindsay Bell … the Bears benefited from an own goal off a header in the 8th minute … Sofia Miliancano preserved the one-goal deficit with an outstanding diving save towards the end of the first frame … the Ospreys tied things up at one in the 40th minute after Masen Frey put one past the keeper off of beautiful connecting passes from Brooklyn Fugel and Kayla Bond.
Second Half: Mercer put up four shots to UNF’s one in the second half, but North Florida’s lone shot did all the damage as a beautiful free kick goal from McSwigan slotted underneath the crossbar for the game-winning tally in the 70th minute.
