Today, boxing world title fights take place around the globe and are more accessible to watch than ever before. Sometimes, championship bouts do not receive as much attention and go underreported. Big Fight Weekend commits to writing about boxing news, previews, and recaps. As such, the site now has a recurring segment on championship bouts – from around the world from the past week.
The focus of these pieces will be on clashes ranging from atomweight to heavyweight that had the WBA, WBC, IBF, and/or WBO titles on the line. This edition of “Title Fights From Around the World” comprises two recaps. In the United States, a 22-year-old became an undisputed champion. Over in Costa Rica, a former titlist once again became a world champion.

Gabriela Fundora Stops Gabriela Alaniz to Become Undisputed
Gabriela Fundora (15-0, 7 KOs, 1 NC) became the undisputed flyweight champion with a seventh-round technical knockout of Gabriela Alaniz (15-2, 6 KOs).
The stoppage time was 1:40. With the victory, Fundora now holds the IBF, WBC, WBA, and WBO flyweight world titles. At just 22 years of age, this makes her an undisputed world champion.
The bout took place on the undercard of Floyd Schofield’s unanimous decision win over René Téllez Girón. It took place on November 2 at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas in NV, USA. Boxing fans around the world could catch the action live on DAZN.

Fundora’s longer reach allowed her to employ a jab that prevented her opponent from landing effective punches. Despite this, Alaniz had her moments of success thanks to her left hook. However, Fundora’s jab and bodywork allowed her to win rounds.
In the seventh, a straight left hand sent Alaniz to the canvas with under a minute to go in the round. The Argentinian got up, but the fight would not last much longer. Another left hand from Fundora sent Alaniz down once again with 30 seconds to go in the seventh. Referee Robert Hoyle issued a count but terminated it before he got to 10, giving Fundora the technical knockout victory.

Yokasta Valle Dominates Elizabeth Corzo in World Title Rematch
Yokasta Valle (32-2, 10 KOs) won a wide unanimous decision against Elizabeth Corzo (11-7-5, 2 KOs) in their world title rematch.
While one judge had the contest 100-89, the other two saw it 98-91. With the win, Valle now holds the WBC minimumweight title that had become vacant following Seniesa Estrada’s retirement. Valle had previously fought Corzo in late 2021, also winning a wide unanimous decision. At that time, however, the Costa Rican held the IBF minimumweight title and was making a defence of it.

The fight headlined a November 1 Yoka Sports & Boxing Promotions card at the Cámara de Ganaderos in Liberia, Costa Rica. Boxing fans in Latin America could catch the action live on ESPN KnockOut. A broadcaster for the remainder of the world was not available.
Corzo took on an aggressive approach that gave her opponent some initial issues. In round two, the Mexican was knocked down even though it looked like she slipped on the centre ring logo. Valle stuck to throwing one-twos and landed clean combinations throughout the clash. Corzo remained aggressive and would throw wild, flinging punches. In the end, Valle had more success landing punches over 1o rounds which allowed her to claim a unanimous decision win.
