Nick Woltemade was on target again as Germany breezed past Czechia 4-2 to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the European Under-21 Championship.

Woltemade, who scored a hat-trick in Germany’s matchday one win over Slovenia, made it 3-0 to his side after first-half efforts from Nicolò Tresoldi and Paul Nebel.

Eric Martel added a fourth for Germany before the hour mark.

Czechia rallied through an own goal from Bright Arrey-Mbi and a Karel Spáčil strike but they could not reduce the arrears further and can no longer qualify from Group B.

Turk frustrates England

Earlier, England and Slovenia drew 0-0.

The Young Lions had the better of the chances but couldn’t find a way past Martin Turk, who produced a brilliant save to deny Jack Hinshelwood late on.

England need a point against Germany on Wednesday to advance to the last eight.

Denmark are through from Group D after two goals from William Osula saw them come from behind to beat the Netherlands 2-1.

The Jong Oranje led in bizarre fashion when a clearance from Denmark captain Oliver Provstgaard rebounded off Ruben van Bommel and flew into the net via a deflection off the Danish skipper.

But Newcastle striker Osula levelled with a header after 35 minutes and then grabbed the winner shortly after the interval.

The other qualifying spot will be determined on Wednesday when the Netherlands meet Ukraine, who today beat Finland 2-0 thanks to goals from Vladyslav Vanat and Maksym Braharu.
