Following the White Sox’s 21st consecutive loss on Aug. 5, a viral photo of Miguel Vargas painted a picture of his discontentment with his recent move to Chicago. Vargas, a former Dodger, had a significant role in the Dodgers’ organization before being traded.
Playing primarily in left field for the Dodgers, Vargas seemed to have a clear path to being a regular contributor on a potential playoff roster. However, after being part of a trade with the Cardinals and the White Sox on July 30, Vargas found himself on the struggling White Sox team.
Since joining the White Sox, Vargas has seen more playing time in various positions, including third base, left field, and designated hitter. Despite struggling at the plate, the White Sox are giving him opportunities to adjust to Major League pitchers.
While it may not have been the season Vargas envisioned with the Dodgers, his experience with the White Sox will help him develop as a player and potentially secure a consistent role on any team in the future.
