Juventus have moved seven points clear at the top of the Serie A Femminile table following a 2-0 victory over second-placed Inter. Meanwhile, reigning champions Roma failed to take anything from their away meeting with AC Milan.

Here, we will round up all the action from match-day 16 of the Serie A Femminile season.

Juventus 2-0 Inter

Juventus scored two first half goals to claim an important win in Friday’s clash against Serie A Femminile title rivals Inter. Sofia Cantore thumped a right-foot shot past Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir to open the scoring in the 27th minute. Moments later, Cristiana Girelli doubled Juve’s advantage, guiding the ball in from close range after seeing her initial header saved.

Those two strikes ultimately proved enough to guide the hosts to a third consecutive home league victory. As for the visitors, they fell to their first league defeat since November 3rd.

Como 0-3 Sassuolo

Sassuolo took full advantage of Astrid Gilardi’s red card to take all three points from their away meeting with Como. The goalkeeper was dismissed in the 54th minute after fouling Lana Clelland as the last player back in a bid to recover her poor first touch. Just three minutes later, Daniela Sabatino opened the scoring, turning the ball in at the near post from Martina Brustia’s cross.

Gina Chmielinski doubled the advantage, lashing the ball in from a short free-kick routine. There was still time for Chmielinski to add her second and Sassuolo’s third to wrap up a successful outing.

Lazio 2-0 Fiorentina

After playing out a goalless first half, Lazio found the all-important breakthrough in the 58th minute of Saturday’s home fixture. Noemi Visentin guided the ball home after Clarisse Le Bihan fired the ball into the box from a short corner. Not long after her opener, Visentin won a penalty for her side, enticing Cecilie Fiskerstrand to bring her down as she attempted to round the Fiorentina goalkeeper.

However, Fiskerstrand ultimately made amends for her error, guessing the right way to keep out Martina Piemonte’s spot kick. Piemonte did eventually put her name on the scoresheet though, driving a low shot into the far corner to wrap up the win.

AC Milan 3-2 Roma

Roma’s grip on their Serie A title loosened with a narrow defeat in Saturday’s meeting with AC Milan. The contest came to life just after the half hour mark when Giada Greggi opened the scoring with a stunning strike from the edge of the box. Greggi’s opener was quickly cancelled out by Giorgia Arrigoni, before Alice Corelli restored Roma’s advantage to give the visitors a narrow lead at the break.

Milan made a fast start to their second period to restore parity in the 47th minute. Emma Koivisto pounced on a loose ball to tuck the ball home from close range, turning the momentum into the home side’s favour. Valentina Cernoia completed the Milan turnaround less than 10 minutes later, guiding the ball home to net her second goal of the Serie A Femminile season. The hosts kept the visitors at bay for the rest of the contest to clinch back-to-back home league victories.

Napoli 0-1 Sampdoria

Sampdoria required just one goal to claim their first league victory of the season. The visitors were given the chance to go to the penalty spot in the 72nd minute when Cecilie Sandvej was penalised for a clumsy challenge in the box. Nicola Arcangeli kept her composure to blast home the subsequent spot-kick. Sampdoria ultimately saw out the closing stages to clinch a precious victory, moving them off the foot of the table and above Napoli.
