Kevin Durant is once again at the center of burner account speculation, with social media claims emerging during All-Star Weekend that the Houston Rockets star may have been using a private X account to criticize teammates. While nothing has been confirmed, the allegations have sparked widespread debate across the NBA world.

Screenshots from an account believed to be operating under the handle “@gethigher77” began circulating online over the weekend.

The account has since been set to private, and there is no concrete evidence linking it directly to Durant. Still, the posts in question allegedly targeted several players tied to Durant’s career, both past and present.

The account was said to have taken aim at Rockets youngsters Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Sengun. Sengun was reportedly described as a liability due to his shooting and defensive shortcomings, while Smith’s scoring impact and defense were also questioned.

Other alleged comments extended beyond Houston, with claims that Devin Booker was labeled a “dictator” who took credit for wins, and Kyrie Irving was portrayed as acting as though Durant “owed him something.”

None of those claims have been verified.

The situation gained further traction after Bill Simmons addressed the rumors on his podcast.

“[There are] a lot of signs that it’s him,” Simmons said. “I assume there’s probably some smoke with the fire on this one. If this is all true and he’s talking about guys he’s playing with… A social media scandal of revealed tweets/text of somebody disparaging people on his team that he then has to go play with.”

Durant’s history with burner accounts has been well-documented.

In 2017, while with Golden State, he accidentally tweeted from his verified account while defending his move from Oklahoma City.

“He didn’t like the organisation or playing for Billy Donovan. His roster wasn’t that good, it was just him and Russ,” the tweet read.
