Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been instrumental in the growth of the WNBA in recent years. Las Vegas Aces veteran Sydney Colson criticized Jeff Teague’s podcast for featuring comedian Charleston White, who made derogatory remarks about WNBA players.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Colson called out Teague and his co-hosts DJ Wells and Brandon Hendricks for having White as a guest on their “Club 520” podcast. White’s comments about Reese and Brittney Griner were offensive and were taken lightly by the hosts.
Hendricks tried to justify White’s remarks by expressing his desire to be part of the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis. Teague and his co-hosts are based in the city and film their podcast there.
“Having a sexist guest and then expecting collaboration with the WNBA is ridiculous,” Colson tweeted.
White’s comments towards Angel Reese and Brittney Griner were met with laughter from the hosts of the “Club 520” podcast. DJ Wells praised Caitlin Clark for challenging stereotypes about WNBA players by embracing her femininity and having a boyfriend.
According to the hosts, Reese’s approach caters to the male fanbase while Clark aims to break barriers in the league. There were discussions about inviting Chicago Sky star for a future episode to hear her perspectives.
It remains to be seen if the WNBA will extend an invitation to Jeff Teague and his co-hosts for the 2025 All-Star Game. The league and the podcast are both sponsored by DraftKings, adding another layer of connection between them.
