Lee Has Conference High 12 All-Academic Members for Fall Sports

Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.

– 12 Lee University athletes earned Gulf South Conference Fall All-Academic Honors as announced by the league on Friday. Lee also had 77 athletes on the fall honor roll. The women’s cross country team led the way with five selections. Men’s cross country and women’s soccer each had three. Men’s soccer had one selection.

All-Academic teams are voted on by the conference’s Athletic Communications Directors. Athletes must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher, have spent at least one year on campus at the institution. The teams are comprised of athletes that achieved combination of both academic and athletic success this season.

Athletes must maintain a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher to receive honor roll recognition. 

For women’s cross country, Aria Hawkins, Lily Hare, Megan Adams, Ashlyn Iliff, and Katie Krueger were all selected.

Arai Hawkinshas a 3.55 GPA in psychology. She was an All Academic team member last year. She won the GSC Championship and won the NCAA South Region Championship. At the National Championship she was 34th getting All-American Honors. She helped Lee come in 9th at the NCAA Championships, win 5th NCAA region in a row setting a record low score, and 8th straight GSC title with a perfect score.
 
Lily Hare has a 3.72 GPA in elementary education. She was fourth in the GSC Championship and third at the NCAA South Region Championship. At the National Championship she was 58th. She helped Lee come in 9th at the NCAA Championships, win 5th NCAA region in a row setting a record low score, and 8th straight GSC title with a perfect score.
 
Megan Adams has a 3.99 GPA in health science. She was fifth in the GSC Championship and seventh at the NCAA South Region Championship. At the National Championship she was 147th. She helped Lee come in 9th at the NCAA Championships, win 5th NCAA region in a row setting a record low score, and 8th straight GSC title with a perfect score.
 
Ashlyn Iliff has a 3.82 GPA is psychology. She was seventh in the GSC Championship and tenth at the NCAA South Region Championship. At the National Championship she was 98th. She helped Lee come in 9th at the NCAA Championships, win 5th NCAA region in a row setting a record low score, and 8th straight GSC title with a perfect score.
 
Katie Krueger has a 3.99 GPA in political science. She was on the All-Academic team last year. She was eighth in the GSC Championship and thirteenth at the NCAA South Region Championship. At the National Championship She was 173rd. She helped Lee come in 9th at the NCAA Championships, win 5th NCAA region in a row setting a record low score, and 8th straight GSC title with a perfect score.

For men’s cross country, Ryan Lovelace, Luke Gaddis, and Pwen Pearce were named to the All-Academic Team.

Ryan Lovelace has a 3.88 in political science. He was third in the GSC Championship and third at the NCAA South Region Championship. At the National Championship he was 84th. He helped Lee come in 16th at the NCAA Championships, win 4th NCAA region in a row, and third straight GSC title.
 
Luke Gaddis has a 4.0 GPA in Biology (Pre-PT). He was second in the GSC Championship and sixth at the NCAA South Region Championship. At the National Championship he was 220th. He helped Lee come in 16th at the NCAA Championships, win 4th NCAA region in a row, and third straight GSC title.
 
Owen Pearce has a 3.47 earning an MBA. He was fourth in the GSC Championship and 14th at the NCAA South Region Championship. At the National Championship he was 153rd. He helped Lee come in 16th at the NCAA Championships, win 4th NCAA region in a row, and third straight GSC title.

On the women’s soccer team, Grace Berry, Avery Sides, and Abby Whitcomb were selected to the All-Academic Team.

Grace Berry has a 3.6 GPA in nursing. She was an All-Academic team member last year. She was a CSC Academic All-District member as well. Berry, a junior, was on the D2CCA South region first team. She was on the First Team All-GSC for the second straight year in a row. She had a fantastic season. She was a preseason All-GSC as well this season. She led the Lady Flames in goals and points. She was second on the team with shots on goal. She had two game winning goals this season including a big one against Mississippi College. She was also in the top ten in goals in the GSC.
 
Abby Whitcomb has 3.6 GPA in biology. She was a CSC Academic All-District member as well. She was on the second team All-GSC this year. It is the first time for Abby Whitcomb to be on an All-Conference team. She was stellar in goal this year. She was fourth in saves in the GSC and was second in shutouts. She gave up less than a goal a game this year and averaged just under four saves a game. She played in every minute of every game. 
 
Avery Sides has a 3.9 GPA in nursing. She has been on the honor roll all three seasons. She was a CSC Academic All-District member as well. She played and started all 18 games as a defender this year. She had two goals and two assists with one game winning goal this year. 

The lone men’s soccer selection was Marc Ehmann. He has a 3.9 GPA while earning an MBA. Ehmann was an D2CCA All-region team second team member this year. He was on the First Team All-GSC and was the captain and the leader of the defense for the Flames this year. He was on the preseason All-GSC team after being a second team All-GSC member last season. He helped lead the defense to giving up just a goal a game and has only allowed the third fewest goals in the GSC. He has a score and an assist this year.

1,129 student-athletes named to the honor roll, with 157 posting 4.0 GPA.
Centenarians: Two schools reached 100+ student-athletes recognized — West Florida (141) and Mississippi College (126).
All-Academic Breakdown: All 12 GSC schools were represented with at least one honoree … The top-three schools with the most selections: Lee (12), UWF (11), UWA (8)
