Lee Has Eight Student Athletes Named to GSC All-Academic Teams

ALL ACADEMIC TEAMLEE HONOR ROLL

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. 

– Eight Lee University athletes earned Gulf South Conference Fall All-Academic Honors as announced by the league on Friday. Lee also had 80 athletes on the fall honor roll. The men’s cross country team led the way with four selections. Women’s soccer had two while women’s cross country and volleyball each had one. 

All-Academic teams are voted on by the conference’s Athletic Communications Directors. Athletes must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher, have spent at least one year on campus at the institution. The teams are comprised of athletes that achieved combination of both academic and athletic success this season.

Athletes must maintain a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher to receive honor roll recognition. 

For men’s cross country, Pierre Chauveau, Luke Gaddis, Ryan Lovelace, and Chris Ross were all selected.

Chauveau has a 3.71 GPA in business analytics. He was on the GSC honor roll last year. At the NCAA Championships he came in 58th. At the NCAA regional he was 5th. At the GSC Championship he was second. Gaddis has a 4.0 GPA in biology. He was on the All-Academic team last year as well as indoor track and field and outdoor track and field. He was the GSC Champions Scholar athlete this year for cross country. At the NCAA Championships he came in 219th. At the NCAA regional he was sixth. At the GSC Championship he was tenth. Lovelace has a 3.92 GPA in political science. He was on the All-Academic team last year as well as indoor track and field. At the NCAA Championships he came in 186th. At the NCAA regional he was 45th. At the GSC Championship he was fifth. Ross has a 4.0 GPA in biology. At the NCAA Championships he came in 138th. At the NCAA regional he was 23rd. At the GSC Championship he was 13th.

For women’s cross country, Katie Beam was named to the All-Academic Team.

Beam has a 3.89 GPA in exercise science. She was on the honor roll last year At the NCAA Championships she came in 186th. At the NCAA regional she was 29th. At the GSC Championship she was 20th.

On the women’s soccer team, Grace Berry and Avery Sides were selected to the All-Academic Team.

Berry has a 3.76 GPA in nursing. She was an All-Academic team member last year. She was on first team All-GSC this year and a First team All-region in both United Soccer Coaches and D2CCA. She is a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District. She started every game for Lee and led the team in assists and scored four goals. She was second in the GSC in assists as well. Sides has a 3.93 GPA in nursing. She was an All-Academic team member last year. She was on first team All-GSC this year and a First team All-region in both United Soccer Coaches and D2CCA. She is a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District. She started every game for Lee and led the team in minutes on the field. As a defender she helped the Lady Flames to the fourth fewest goals in the GSC and was in the top ten in assists this year.

The lone volleyball selection was Sara Palumbo. Sara Palumbo has a 3.67 GPA in business. She was on the second team All-GSC. She was third in the GSC in service aces. She had 223 kills, 20 assists, 265 digs, and 15 blocks. She is the first villeyball player since Abby Stroh in the spring of 2021 to be named to the GSC All-Academic team.

On the honor roll, men’s cross country had 16 athletes. Women’s cross country had 10 while volleyball had 12 athletes. Men’s soccer had 24 athletes and women’s soccer had 18 athletes.
