Lee Women’s Soccer Has Four on All-GSC Teams

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lee University women’s soccer team has four players on the the All-Gulf South Conference teams as announced by the league on Friday. Alaysia Nye, Grace Berry, and Avery Sides were on the First Team All-GSC while Megan Davis was on the second team. Nye, Berry, and Sides were all unanimously selected to the first team. 

Avery Sides has anchored the back line for Lee this year. She has played the most minutes for Lee and has started every game. She has helped the Lady Flames to the fourth fewest goals this season. She has scored and has multiple assists this season. She at the double digit shot range as a defender. She has one defensive player of the week award. She is also in the top ten in assists in the GSC.
  
Grace Berry has dominated the midfield for Lee this season. She has started every game for the Lady Flames. She leads the team in assists and has scored four goals. She is second int he GSC in assists. She has taken the third most shots on the team. The Lady Flames have scored the fourth most goals in the GSC this year. She has played the third most minutes for the Lady Flames. She is second in the GSC in assists. It is the third straight year Berry has been a First Team All-GSC member.
 
 Alaysia Nye has had an unbelievable year for the Lady Flames. She tied for first in the GSC with the most goals at 11. Those 11 goals are 11th best in the country. She has the second most game winning goals. She has been very efficient scoring this year. She has 11 goals on just 33 shots which is just ninth best in the GSC. She has 18 shots on goal and has scored on 11 of them by far the best in the conference. Her shot accuracy is a .545. She has been named GSC player of the week twice. Nye was also on the 2023 First Team All-GSC

Megan Davis has been a spark in the midfield this year. She has started every game for the Lady Flames. She is second on the team in assists and sixth in the GSC and has scored three times. She has taken the second most shots on the team. The Lady Flames have scored the fourth most goals in the GSC this year. She is in the top ten in assists in the GSC this year.

Head Coach Lee Hughes is excited for his four players. “Very happy for our girls to be recognized for all the hard work they have put in so far, well deserved!” 

Olof Thorvaldsdottir of the University of West Florida was the offensive player of the year. Jillian Thompson from UWF was the defensive player of the year. Ayla Ertekin from the University of Montevallo was freshman of the year and Joe Bartlinski of UWF was the coach of the year.
