Manchester City delivered a comfortable and composed performance against Everton to remain top of the table. Goals from Kerolin Nicoli and Vivianne Miedema keep Andree Jeglertz’s side six points clear of their main rivals Chelsea.

How it went
The opening spell of the game brought no real chances for either side as the rain poured down in Manchester, making the pitch increasingly heavy. It was Kerolin Nicoli who finally broke the deadlock in the 26th minute. The No.14 fired a well weighted pass beyond Courtney Brosnan from inside the box to give her side the lead. Everton had the ball in the back of the net in the 40th minute however the goal was disallowed for a foul on Ayaka Yamashita. There was a break in play shortly after, as Katija Snoeijs required a lengthy period of treatment following a non contact injury.

The second half started slowly for both sides. Whilst the hosts dominated much of the possession, they were unable to take their chances with the Toffees consistently closing play down. Vivianne Miedema doubled City’s lead in the 63rd minute, slamming home a well placed cross from Bunny Shaw. The remainder of the match passed with half chances for both sides however neither team were able to add to the scoreline.

Manchester City will travel to face Bournemouth in the FA Cup before welcoming Chelsea to the Joie Stadium for the League Cup Semi-Final. The Sky Blues will then return to WSL action. First facing London City Lionesses away ahead of their blockbuster home clash with title rivals Chelsea.
Everton will face West Brom away in the FA Cup before back to back league home games against Brighton and Aston Villa.
